I went alto, tenor, then bari. So much fun, especially playing alto parts on it

haha i think i still have permanent teeth marks on the inside of my lip from the mouth piece. Looking back, it really was fun. Maybe ill pull it out of the closet one day and play again. Still have my old alto.

My favourite to play belonged to my high school, I wanna buy it from them. Like 50 year old bari that didn't have a low Ab, with the most wonderful patina of rust worn smooth. Best tone I've gotten out of anything

The tenor i played belonged to my highschool too. As used as they were, youre right, they did sound much more impressive than the instrument i owned.
The bari always sounded much better when played impromptu, rather than piece music during class. The bari sax doesnt need rules, it needs to be let loose.

I usually played the tenor in regular band class for that very reason, the bari was what I played in jazz band, it's way more in its element there

Not to mention its awkwardly large to play for everything. Tenor is just right, alto is for short people haha.
I did jazz band for a year. But 2 years into HS i quit band cause of the new band teacher, and went to woodshop and robotics classes. Cant say i regret it, but every so often i have the urge to play again.

I spent most of my time doing music stuff until I wound up in woodshop in gr12, was massively overqualified and bored, and happened to have a teacher with a thing for cars....we wound up doing a mild build on a rabbit cabrio with the intentions of racing it. And thus began my working on cars. Yay origin stories

Dang, woodshop teachers are always interesting. Mine was this massively jacked younger guy in his early 30's, who had a big done up lifted dodge ram that he converted to run on biodiesel. He actually got to park the truck inside the school during winter haha. In the summer he rode in on his custom chopper. Also he was the only teacher in my memory to be able to show his tattoos (he had a sleeve). He let us get away with so much crap, but also let us do awesome things in wood shop.
Besides that, i never had a teacher i could talk with about cars. With one exception, my pysch college professor races in a 300hp class with a golf gti. He used to race vipers apparently but he said it got too expensive. He offered for me to go to the track with him for a race, but i flaked, and now i sorta have some regret...

haha the last person I would expect to be converting to biodiesel would be a lifted truck owner, that's so random....
Also simply a golf gti being in the 300hp class sounds epic.
